Ahli Majlis dilantik oleh Menteri Perdagangan Dalam Negeri dan Kos Sara Hidup bagi tempoh tidak melebihi dua tahun, mewakili kepentingan pengguna, pengilang, pembekal, pertubuhan bukan kerajaan dan anggota akademik.Members are appointed by the Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living for a term not exceeding two years, representing the interests of consumers, manufacturers, suppliers, non-governmental organisations and academia.

Seksyen 74 Akta 599 memperuntukkan Ketua Setiausaha Kementerian atau wakilnya, bersama tidak lebih daripada enam belas orang lain yang mewakili kepentingan pengguna, pengilang, pembekal, pertubuhan bukan kerajaan dan anggota akademik. Section 74 of Act 599 provides for the Ministry’s Secretary General or a representative, together with not more than sixteen other persons representing the interests of consumers, manufacturers, suppliers, non-governmental organisations and academia.
